Cydney and author Erica Kennedy

I just finished reading the book "My Daughter's Boyfriend".  Oh my God, that was good.  I could not believe you made a very good story about family, relationships, mother/daughter drama, men, and how they feel, honestly about women, the fact you tied it up with God being the focal point.  I did not know how you were going to do it but it was a good ride trying to figure it out what was going to happen with this mother/daughter.  I just kept thinking now any minute they will win tickets to the Jerry Springer Show.  When I picked this book up at my local library here in Dayton, Ohio, I was almost embarrassed to be checking it out.  I love to read all the African American Novels, and I must say you surprised me and I truly loved the book.  God is so good and the fact you broke it down in the really raw form of sin; we all sin and fall short of God's glories,  but sleeping with your daughter's boyfriend, that was too much.  It was a wonderful testament of how good God  really is.  Thanks so much Cydney Rax for opening my mind to yet another miracle from God.

I found this site looking for the release date for the new Eric Jerome Dickey book. In a few words -- I love it. I work in the Memphis City Public Library, but I purchase as well. Now that I have found  Book-Remarks.com I shall visit the site again.

Thank you for hosting this superior web site and also for including news about my own works on your Industry News page. The service you so lovingly and intelligently provide helps to insure that the current boom in black publishing will not go down in history as just one more brilliant explosion of black talent but that it will be recognized as that crucial turning point when black literature finally won recognition as a fundamental element of American culture in general. In addition to my gratitude, please accept my deepest respect. Sincerely,

I see this reviewer title (BookRemarks) all the time when I rate books on Amazon.com.  It's good to see the company behind the name.  A lot of these books I had never heard of, nor would I probably have ever heard of, if not for this site! Great job.  I'll definitely keep up with the new books.  Thanks!  I found out about this site through Jeff Reich of "The Writer" magazine and he told me about the IAAS Linkup.  I'm really glad I got his message.

Hello:
I was given this web address from the library I visit very often, and  i am very pleased to find out there are readers just like me.  I found this site to be interesting, fun and exciting, now that I can see who's writing what next !!

Thank you to whomever the credit is due I will pass it on to all my sisterfriends and brothers. keep up the good work will be back soon.

Cydney,

I love the new look. It is even more informative. Thanks for interviewing and reviewing such a wide range of authors and their works. Keep up the good work.

I just want to commend you on your website which caters to African-American novelists.  I am an avid reader of African American books and this website enlightens me on new books by some of my favorite authors as well as showcasing new authors.  I think the monthly book giveaways are a plus.  I enter them quite often and I've had my name pulled twice. I've been hitting up on this website for a couple of years.  One day I was looking through various search engines for a website that exclusively caters to black authored books and I tried a few, but none of them gave me what I was looking for until I found Book-Remarks.  Keep up the good work and stay in the cyber world.

I visited your site for the first time on June 24, 2004. I found it to be one of the most resourceful sites on black literature. Most encouraging was the fact that the authors featured are young, ready to break genre boundaries. With due respect, I am tired of reading works by the usual suspects - Morrison, brother Mosley and others. We need more young writers to inspire us. In my country, South Africa, there is a great hunger for writing by black people not only from our continent, but from the rest of
the Diaspora. Keep up the good work.

I just wanted to thank BookRemarks for all the information given on your site.  My name was selected for the book Blinking Red Light.  I have completed the book and would like to you and the author to know how much I enjoyed it.  I am a member of the Ebony Eyes Book Club in Baltimore/Founder & President Lisa HammAck.  My next read will be your book Cydney, My Daughter's Boyfriend.  Please keep up the good work you are doing on this site.

Kimberly

Thank you for a great website for information on African American Authors. This is the best one I've found!

I found your website while looking for information for the Harlem Book Fair. I must say this is a very informative and professionally designed site! I'm thrilled to see a sistah such as yourself doing such great things! Keep it coming.

Cydney,

I love the new revamped site! Book-Remarks provides such needed service to readers and authors alike. It is so full of information that I find myself visiting at least once a month. Thank you so much for your support. And I can't wait until all of the

I was surprised to see that you didn't have any representation at the Harlem Book Fair.  It was an awesome fair and needs plenty of support.  I love your website.  The information is helpful and it's nice to see Black Literature reviewed that isn't so mainstream.  Keep it up!

Thanks so much for Book Remarks.

I live in the mid-west in Madison, Wisconsin.  We do not have any African-American Books store here.  But by using your list, I can order from Amazon or go to my local Barnes and Noble or Borders and get books by African-American writers.  Thank you, thank you for your  hard work.

Keep up the good work.

First let me tell you that it was a pleasure meeting you in Atlanta, GA. (RAWSISTAZ Affair 2003).  I thought it was funny that we both live in Houston, but met out of state.  I visited your website and commend your dedication to the African American Literary Community.  You have a very well organized and informative site.  I look forward to reading your book.  Keep doing your thing...you are a blessing & inspiration to many!

What a great website and supporting caravan for African-Americans. As  a freelance writer, I recommend this site to anyone with a desire to find their literary niche.

I love your site!  I found so much that I would love to read.  I got this link from an author that I met called Kim Delaney.  She wrote a book called: "The Beautiful Ones".  She told us that we could find a review of her book at this site.  I did not find a thing about her book, which I found confusing anyway, but thank you for having a site like this out here where a person can find out about many black authors and the books that they write.  This goes in my favorites for sure!

I visit Book Remarks every week and thoroughly enjoy the site. You are performing an important service for the African American literary community, and I commend you.

My favorite section of your site is the monthly Author Interview. I have read all of the interviews, and love them. I've noticed, however, that all of the authors interviewed tend to write in the "relationship-contemporary" genre.  Have you ever considered interviewing an author who publishes in a different field?

My suggestion--if I may offer one--is that you conduct an interview with my favorite new author, if possible. His name is Brandon Massey, and he recently published a horror-suspense novel entitled THUNDERLAND. He's one of a very small number of authors who write in the horror/suspense/sci-fi genre (Tananarive Due is another author who comes to mind). It would be nice to black authors in these less heavily promoted genres interviewed on high-quality book sites such as yours. Writers such as Mr. Massey and Ms. Due seem to often be overlooked, though they are doing excellent work deserving of attention.

Just my suggestion.  Either way, I will continue to frequent and recommend your wonderful website.

My name is (Mr.) J.R. Ewing, a 'finally' published first time author. My book -- 'COMMON DENOMINATOR' (Prosecuting Attorneys') is the latest addition to your New Books Page. What a great way to say "Hello" to 2003! I probably seem a little excited to you huh? You are a true inspiration to me. I wonder is that what they mean by 'divine intervention'. I enjoy reading the Thank You letters and the words of encouragement from the other visitors to your site. I would like to say thanks to them also.

I was overjoyed to have found your site through another author. I want to say thank you for providing this service.  I too am interested in being featured on your site and will be sending you information soon.  Until then I want to say thanks for getting the word out and for supporting up and coming authors like myself. I wish you blessings in all your endeavors so you will be able to continue your work.

I want to thank you for including my information on BookRemarks, but I also want to thank you for supplying such a service for up and coming writers such as myself to gain exposure.  Really, thank you isn't enough but it's all I can afford to give.  (The life of an up and coming writer is also a poor one).

I found your website about a month ago (through an article in Black Issues) and it is by far the absolute best source on black fiction on the web or anywhere else.  Every time I visit I find new and interesting information.  I plan on being a frequent visitor and will definitely spread the word.

Thanks so much

I just spent an hour on your site. I couldn't leave -- it's fabulous. It also houses a wealth of information, as well as inspiration.  I applaud you!

Hello! I just wanted to say that I love your website and especially appreciate your writer's links. I would like to suggest a link for you to add that has made a world of difference to me. It's called
Literary Agent Finder.  The woman behind it helps writers locate agents.  Thanks much.

This is a great site. It is very informative and all-inclusive. Our people need all the representation we can get and such a site as yours is truly refreshing. I seek to soon grace your pages. Continued success and keep up the great work!

I just wanted to say that I've spent my entire morning browsing your site.  I initially visited in hopes of having you review my new book of poetry, but when I saw that you didn't review poetry, I kept on browsing (smile).  The resources and links that you have included on your site have been a phenomenal help to me and a great source for networking with other writers, bookstores and websites.  Thank you, and I wish you continued success with Book Remarks!

I love your WEBSITE.  As a future best selling author, I feel it is important to know what new novels are being published by African Americans.  I love the author interview area.  One day I will give you an interview.  I have forwarded this website to all of my friends because I am their source for all of the latest novels.  Now I have help.  Keep up the good work!

What a wonderful site. I learned about your site from an author who contacted me. It is informative, helpful, and inspiring. Please let me know how I can get my literary events listed.

I check this site every week for new novels. This is the best website I have found for African American novels. So many stores and websites don't have self-published novels. There is so much talent out there that we would never know about if it weren't for your website. Keep it coming!

- Cassandra

Thanks for the updates. I can hardly keep up but that's a good thing.  You have made my Sister friends here in Colorado Springs very happy.  Now we can keep up with African American writers that are not distributed by large booksellers. When I can't get them through Ingram's or Baker & Taylor, I head up to Denver to the HUE MAN EXPERIENCE BOOKSTORE to get my fix.  Keep up the good work.

- Kathy Hardy Jones

This is by far the BEST website for African American readers. Filled with infinite information, one can just about find any book selection they're searching for. GREAT JOB!

- Janeth W.

I have visited your Book Remarks Web site several times and I love it. It is one of the most comprehensive sites for African-American authors that I have ever seen. You have done a fantastic job putting it together.

This is an excellent website and I want to thank you!  Also would you please post or provide any information about the very basic steps of self publishing (if you have it)?

- Toni Staton Harris

I have tried finding this site for the longest (about four months).  I am an avid reader and it's not so easy to find so much information on black literature. I know there are several other good sites. I have checked them often and I really like them too.

- Jacklyne

I went to your site. I just LOVED it there! I saw so many names of folks that I am now acquainted with in this new writing life I am living. It was very exciting! I will be at the Women's Retreat in Savannah in September with Timm McCann and Valerie Wilson Wesley and many others. I mention some [of them] on my site.

You have a lot of information there. I am listed on www.AUTHORSONTOUR.com

I hope you have a moment to check out my work.

I just wanted you to know I just found this website and I'm excited about it. Just to let you know I love and will spread the word about it. Thanks for making it available!

- J. Joplin

Do you have to subscribe to your mailing list in order to get the author interviews and reviews?  I couldn't find that on the site.  Also, what program do you use to create your web page?

- D. Williams

I just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed viewing your website and I have bookmarked the site. It is hard to find a website that promotes Black literature. Your website is very informative. I spent a good hour looking at the Previews! I cannot wait to get these books! It is an outstanding website and I'm glad that you update it often. I love seeing what new books are coming out from new authors and established authors. Good luck on your future endeavors!

            - A grateful African-American Reader

I would like to take the time to tell you how greatly I appreciate this website. I am a reader who reads 2-3 books a week. I have a problem with going to the bookstore and having to comb each shelf just to find a new book written by an Afro-American that might interest me. With the information given on this website I am able to note the books that I should be looking for. Although I'm a member of the book club "Black Expressions" (a great book club I might add), some of the books you have listed have not reached Black Expression's catalogue which in turn allows me to follow your list and, if need be, go to the nearest book store and purchase. Once again thank you for making life in the Afro-American reading world a lot easier.
