Book-Remarks.com is a top viewed web
site that promotes literary works which may reflect the African-American
culture. In addition to posting information regarding new
releases by mainstream as well as self-published writers, we also
provide readers with book previews, book
reviews, postings about upcoming literary events, a list of anticipated
releases for the current year and beyond, and press
releases regarding events, awards, and other related web content.
The web site was launched in March 2000
in order to promote books written by or about African-Americans.
BookRemarks is not a book club, but an
online resource that posts literary information of interest to readers
and writers.

Getting on Book-Remarks.com
Books that may be featured on the BookRemarks
web site should:
(1) Be available for order through Amazon.com;
this website is an Associate of Amazon.com, therefore it is important
that your book is listed with Amazon, but we will post new release
info even if your book is only available on 1st Books, iUniverse,
or any other bookseller site.
(2) Have an available graphic of the book cover (make sure it's
a smaller size file as opposed to a huge file that has to be downloaded);
(3) Include a strong story description (names of characters, setting,
plot, conflict, etc.);
(4) Be in publication for less than one (1) year; (We are
really strict about this. Please don't send books that say Copyright
2001, 2002 and so on. Old books will not be posted or returned).
(5) Be a novel that is written by an African-American or be a story
that prominently features main characters or minor characters that
are of African-American descent.
Books posted on the Previews Page which
have been in release for more than two years may be removed from
the web site to make room for newer books.

This prestigious website is popular with a prime audience that
consists of national book clubs, major publishers and small presses,
veteran and aspiring authors, literary event organizers, libraries,
and thousands of avid readers. All books featured on the BookRemarks'
home page routinely receive high visibility and increased awareness.

the top of the website are hyperlinked directly to Amazon and
receive a high rate of click-throughs. Prices to advertise book

the week. Sidebar Advertisement: Sidebar advertising
(also located on the homepage) promotes your book cover, and offers a
direct link to Amazon.com, and to your official author website. We
choose background and hyperlink colors that will correspond with your
book cover. Ads may include one or two lines of text located above your

90 days $100.00 All new ads for Sidebar will run at the beginning of
the month. We aim to promote and offer awareness to books that are
newly released or soon to be released. In order to advertise on
BookRemarks: 1-your Amazon.com link MUST be available;
2-your book cover must be in its final form (it doesn't have to be
available on Amazon; you would need to email a copy of the jpeg for
downloading);
3-your book should be an upcoming release, or a book that has not be
in publication more than 12 months;

Book Reviews
Due to the volume of books received, we typically review
books published by major publishing houses. We do not have
the manpower to review 100% of the books received (including self-published
ones). As of summer 2005, we have received an increase in the
number of authors that want their book reviewed. However, we are
scaling back and can now approximately 25% of the books received, therefore
please DO NOT automatically send us your book for review
because we do not have the manpower to review your book;
however, if we do read the book, it may take between eight weeks
to six months before a review is posted. If you have not
seen a review posted of your book within this time frame, it
probably will not be reviewed. We prefer all
kinds of contemporary fiction or high-profile biographies, (but we
do not review historical, psychological, financial, poetry, or political type books).
You do not have to send us a copy of
your book in order to be on this website. But if you do want to
send a press kit, a galley or a copy of the finished book
(no manuscripts), the address is:

to mail the book priority or express; media mail is fine and less
expensive.
